INSPIRATIONS - The Neo Romance Collection

“Love in a millennial age.

Where Regency antiquity meets millennial modernity”

For our SS19 collection, we wanted to explore the concept of romance and its aesthetic in the digital and image saturated culture of today.  Taking stylistic reference from the British Regency Period, “The Age of Undress”, we explored the era often perceived as the epitome of our rose-tinted vision of Romance, and re-imagined this period of changing attitudes for women through millennial eyes.

Regency upholstery influences combine with simple, pure flower motifs in a modern take on Georgian textile design. Feathery, bucolic grasses and vines sit alongside English country garden flowers in clean, digital pastels and a softened, monochrome stripe and inverted fern mix and match with sculptural black and ivory lace detailing to bring a new sense of classicism. Key regency tones of pinks, peaches, greens and blues are re-invented with a digital, neon hue and are contrasted with bright tangerine and smokey anthracite for a modern vibe.

As ever, our inspirations were far flung, from beautifully romantic antique parasols, delicate yet decadent embroideries, textural vintage paintings, and of course the never ending supply of inspiration in the form of flowers and leaves.

Our signature silk satin silhouettes maintain the iconic and nonchalant V&W sports luxe aesthetic with clean lines and a relaxed fit. A filigree, tattoo inspired lace is spliced in sharp, linear panels giving a contemporary feel and a Broderie, ladder trim adds modern contrasts with a nod to the regency era.

We are also excited to release our first, limited edition, Resort capsule where gauzy, silk cotton voiles are updated with modern detailing and contemporary, photographic and digital prints with vibrant neon hues. Neo–classical styling such as Empire lines, ribbon bands and soft, Grecian inspired gathers and draping are used on Kaftans, robes, chemises and soft separates, drawing importance to the relaxing of sartorial attitudes of the period. This collection is available exclusively at a selection of our fantastic stockists. Please contact us for further details.

Each item is thoughtfully designed and upholds the brand philosophy of unique, artisan loungewear pieces which can be re- mixed into a daywear wardrobe; to be loved as something special and beautiful, just as the Regency woman’s clothes would have been some 200 years ago.
